Club Basketball League · Official Rules & Regulations · 2026
The Elite Division is the top tier of the Club Basketball League. It features the most competitive teams and players in the league. Admission to Elite is earned through performance — teams are promoted from the Pro Division at the end of each season based on final standings.
Elite Division games are held to the highest standard of play and conduct. Any behavior that falls below this standard will be dealt with more strictly than in lower divisions.
Elite teams must maintain a minimum of 8 active players on their roster at all times during the season. Teams that fall below 8 players have 72 hours to sign a free agent before a penalty is assessed.
All Elite players must have played at least 1 full season in the CBL (Pro or Amateur) before being eligible for an Elite roster spot, unless granted a waiver by the admin.
At the end of each Elite Division season, the bottom 2 teams in the final standings are relegated to the Pro Division for the following season.
The top 2 teams from the Pro Division are promoted to Elite. Promotion/relegation is processed by the admin after the final game of the season is complete.
Teams may appeal their relegation within 48 hours of the season ending if they believe there was an error in the standings.
The top 6 teams in the Elite Division qualify for the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Seeding is based on final regular season record.
Seeds 1 and 2 receive a first-round bye. Seeds 3-6 play in the first round. All playoff series are best-of-3 except the Championship which is best-of-5.
Playoff schedules are set by the admin and all games must be played within the designated window or a forfeit will be issued.
